Founded in 1963 by Raphaël LEVY and Joseph BIGIO, the company was initially called “Les tricots Caroll” (“Caroll knits”). Caroll… what Joseph would have liked to have called the daughter he never had!
The company’s niche was knitwear only, more specifically Shetland woollens. It was a runaway success with up to 1000 outlets. The 1970s were boom years!
In the 1980s, Caroll began to evolve…
In 1980, it added a ready-to-wear collection and its first franchise shops in France. In 1984, Caroll opened its first branch shops.
In 1987/88, Caroll International was listed on the stock exchange and the André group purchased a large share of the company. The André group, which became Vivarte in 2001, is a leading clothing and footwear retailer and, through its two activities, “Discount” and “Centre Ville”, operates more than 2500 shops under some twenty or so different brands.
The 1990s were the revolution years!
Caroll International defined a new positioning for itself in 1994, creating the “Caroll Paris” brand and introducing new, original initiatives with a view to becoming a major player in the world of fashion, for a targeted yet sizeable female target, well-informed and with high standards.
In just a few years, Caroll International completely changed its image and increased its market shares. After having transformed its network in France, Caroll International began to expand in other countries in 1997.
On 8 March 1999, Marie-José RUBINI took over the chair of the brand, demonstrating the same energy and dedication as its founders.
Since 2000, all is harmony… With a wealth of experience in its sector, Caroll is particularly appreciated for the high quality of its products, its expertise and its style.
Known and praised by countless women for 40 years, today Caroll is, without doubt, one of the best success stories in the field of ready-to-wear fashion.
With her staff around her, Marie-José RUBINI is now breaking new ground with the brand, taking up the immense challenge of applying the laws of luxury to the world of retail.
Because, for 40 years, Caroll has loved women ...
